No Matter the Distance, True Friends are Forever

Sunday, July 11th, 2010

My friend Charlotte who I’ve known since high school days sent me a private message on Facebook yesterday informing me that she’s now two weeks pregnant with her second child. She added that I am the first to know. Wow! Isn’t that sweet? I was really surprised by such a sweet gesture. We haven’t seen each other for years because she’s now living in a different city that is a thousand miles away from me. We only keep in touch online but not that often because we’re both busy with our lives; that is why that message really came as a surprise.

I am so happy for her and I can’t wait to see her baby, even if only in pictures when the time comes. That is unless she will pay her hometown a visit and come to see me. I replied to her message with best wishes greetings and congratulations. I also told her to take care of herself and not to forget to take plenty of prenatal vitamins which will keep her healthy and benefit her baby. I do hope I can see her soon. Well, we never know. Surprises come when we least expect them.

So Nice to See an Old Friend

Thursday, May 13th, 2010

I was busy looking for some boy’s apparel in the kid’s section at the mall yesterday when I felt somebody nudge me from behind. I was surprised to see that it was my classmate Ruth from grade school. She’s still the same as I remember her: quite shy and soft spoken. But one thing that has changed is that she’s not the same skinny Ruth that I remember. She’s gained a lot of weight. And I was so surprised to find that she’s still single. No offense meant, but I really thought she had given birth due to the shape her body was in.

We talked for a while and she couldn’t hide her jealousy towards me because, as per her, I looked more like a single woman than her when in fact I’ve already given birth to Yogi. She even asked if I’m into exercise or if I am using a certain fitness equipment to have kept my body in such good shape. We both laughed when I told her none of the above. I just told her that I watch my diet and told her to watch hers too and we laughed again.

It was nice seeing her once again. I’m hoping to see more of my grade school classmates soon. I hope, I hope!

We Share the Same Sentiment

Saturday, May 8th, 2010

I know for certain that I am not the only individual who have issues with friends. But it didn’t occur to me that a blogging buddy is having the same sentiment as mine. It was our topic for days and though it was only done online, still it was a relief on my part to have talked to somebody who definitely knows what I’m going through.

I am the type who would rather keep mum about certain things at times that’s why I just blogged about it. Little did I know that that would lead to something wonderful. Wonderful in the sense that I was able to share it with a friend who truly understand it all.

Thanks a lot, buddy. You know who you are. (“,)

A Courageous Fight

Friday, March 19th, 2010

Mom has been spending much of her time at the hospital recently. She’s not the one who’s ill, but her close friend’s husband has been diagnosed with colon cancer and is now in the hospital ICU (intensive care unit) with all that hi-tech medical equipment attached to his body. Mom said he looks pitiful, but all the equipment is helping him hang on and wage a ferocious battle for survival. He is having a hard time breathing at times and they use one of those spirometers to check the amount of air getting into his lungs.

Sad to say, but mom says he’s probably not going to live long in his present condition. We can only say a prayer for him, hoping God will grace him with more years to live. And we’re so very thankful that any problems we have are insignificant compared to what’s facing him. God bless, dear friend.

It Reminded Me of Those Times

Saturday, January 9th, 2010

One of the many reasons why I often stay up late nowadays is because of the reality tv show PBB or Pinoy Big Brother Double Up. I’ve always been a fan of the show since it started few years ago. I find it fun watching the housemates do their tasks and just being themselves. And this season’s twists make it more exciting.

The latest twist… having Big Utol instead of Big Brother. Big Brother was brought to the hospital because of health problems and they are now having Big Utol or Big Brother’s brother to be in command at the PBB household instead.

Lastnight, Big Utol invited each housemate to drink with him and some of them really got drunk. Watching the housemates Melai, Kath and Mariel being silly and funny because of being drunk reminded me of those days wherein I got drunk too. I got a bit silly at some point but the good thing was, I was with my girlfriends only and we did silly stuff in my bedroom where nobody had seen us. That was during my girlfriend’s bridal shower party and I can still recall every detail of what happened that evening even though I was drunk. And it was fun! fun! fun!

That’s why watching the show last night really made me laugh and nostalgic at the same time. That was the last time I got drunk but not the only time. I don’t think I’d ever get drunk again though. It can be fun but tiring too, not to mention the headache you get the next day. But we’ll see… Hee hee!

Date With A Good Friend

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

It was unplanned. I was supposed to meet another friend at the mall yesterday when we bumped into each other amidst the very crowded mall atrium. I was talking about my good friend, Ate Carol whom I also call Cat because she’s a die-hard Garfield fan.

It was so nice seeing her again. The last time we’ve seen each other was in December last year when we had our Pocketbell reunion. We were office mates in that telecommunication company until it closed in 2002.

Anyway, we never really thought it would end up as a date since we both didn’t decide to have snack until about thirty minutes of talking right there in the middle of the atrium, and standing at that. Hee hee. And since it was her birthday last December 12th, so I just gave her a treat. We talked like there’s no tomorrow since we really had some catching up to do.

After that, we went to the other mall, the newly-opened Robinson’s Mall and had a little shopping. It was such a nice day being with a good friend again. I’ll see you again soon, Cat!

Get Well Soon, Gurl!

Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009

She has asthma ever since so learning that she’s admitted again because of it is not something new to us (her girlfriends) anymore. She’s not at all stressed out since her job is not at all exhausting but it’s the weather that triggers her asthma attack most of the time.

She was admitted on Sunday but it was only yesterday that I got the chance to visit her. I brought her snacks from red ribbon and we ate it together while enjoying the movie on HBO.

There she is, watching the movie while smoking pot. Just kidding! She’s holding her nebulizer because she’s having difficulty breathing.

And there’s the nurse, patiently waiting for the nebulizer.

I stayed there for like two hours. Wish I could have stayed more but it’s getting late. I’ll visit her again tomorrow though since her doctor didn’t give discharge orders yet.

Get well soon, Gurl!
