The Last Piece of the Puzzle

Friday, February 3rd, 2012

Our journey to be here in the land of Uncle Sam wasn’t simple. We have gone through tons of paper works and tons of emotional turmoil (if I may say) because of the waiting period and all. We did have a lawyer who did all the filing and filling up of the forms, but still, it was no simple thing to be in.

But finally, after all those months and years from when we started this journey, we finally came to an end. Yesterday, we got hold of the last piece of the puzzle. And I’ll bet you know what it is. Yes, mine and my son’s Green Cards! Hooraay!!! It felt so good to be holding that little piece of plastic material. We were so overjoyed that we felt like jumping for joy. Our smiles were so wide too that it almost reached our ears. LOL.

Thank God. We knew, He has been with us from the start because everything just came at the right time. So perfect!

Looking Forward to Easter

Wednesday, April 20th, 2011

This year’s Easter which will be this coming Sunday already will be mine and my son’s first celebration of Easter here in the United States. I wasn’t aware that it is a big celebration here until I saw gift baskets at Walmart. I asked the husband about it and he told me that kids receive presents on Easter and those baskets are just an example. And he added that he needs to get one for my son Yogi soon.

Back in my home country, Easter is being celebrated too with a mass and egg hunting game for the kids in the churches, but that’s about it. We don’t really give gifts to kids. For certain, my son will be delighted on what awaits him this Sunday. I do wonder if the husband gets something for me too. I am also a kid at heart. Hee hee.

Going ‘Round & ‘Round in Circles; First the Power, and Now My Eyes!

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

I know I’ve been writing a lot about the rotating brownouts that we’ve been having, basically whining and complaining about it, but I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s aggravated about this situation. All of us here are fed up with it and we feel so helpless because there’s nada we can do about it.

It’s more annoying when it happens in the evening because it interrupts the cooking of dinner. And who can sleep in this blazing heat (other than Lucifer himself) without a fan or air conditioning? I’m actually starting to have dark circles around my eyes, though it’s not that visible yet. But soon, if this continues, I know I’ll eventually need some eye cream for dark circles because the brownouts will be an ongoing scenario until June. And again, I know I will not be the only one who’s complaining about this, or who will be needing an eye fixer upper.

We Feel So Powerless; In More Ways Than One!

Friday, March 12th, 2010

I was reading about Blue Cross Blue Shield NC insurance policies when…POOF! The power went out again! This is really becoming totally aggravating. And that was as early as 7 o’clock in the morning. It used to go out at around midday or late in the afternoon.

As per the news, we’ll be continuing to experience these rotating brownouts until early June. Imagine that! I do wonder if the authorities are going to try and do something about this. They can’t even give us a proper schedule to know when the brownouts will occur. They need to at least give us a heads up as to when and how long the power outages will be so we could at least prepare. But there’s been nada.

Oh well! I think we will just have to live with this, huh? Poor us! (“,)

Water Shortage?

Saturday, March 6th, 2010

It’s what the headline says a couple of days ago, I think. Gosh! Having this rotational brownout every single day is so annoying already not to mention, time consuming and all. It has been totally affecting our daily lives. And now, this!?

It’s been so hot here in our country now. March being the hottest month, the temperature ranges from 33 to 35 degrees celsius. That is just so hot! And that was the reason behind the power shortage and soon, water shortage. How unlucky we can become.

We do hope they can do something about it though. Fingers crossed!

Once Again

Friday, February 26th, 2010

It’s a non-working holiday here today! I posted previously about the long weekend that we had because of Monday being a holiday. And with today being a holiday once again, we will be having another long weekend. Yepper!

The little once has no classes too so I wasn’t in a cramming mode today. What a relief!

Holidays really makes me happy and gay! LOL.

Long Weekend

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

It’s a holiday here in our country today which makes it a three-day weekend for us. What a relief because Mondays couldn’t be a fun day at times because of tasks and chores that need to be accomplished. Yes, Tuesday and other days can be like that too but at least, one busy day was subtracted leaving only four busy days left. Hehe. Makes sense huh?

The reason behind the holiday is because our country is celebrating the anniversary of the first EDSA Revolution that happened in 1986. The exact date should be February 25th but since it falls on a Thursday, our President decided to move it to Monday so we will have a long weekend. Good idea! It’s not the first time that she has done it though.

It’s midday now and so far it has been such a relaxing day for me. Great!
